Call of Duty: Black Ops (spoiler)

I will finish a full review on this game when I am finished unlocking everything. For now, if you unlock the "Eaten by a Grue" award and have played Zork, you may have been curious to see what us old time gamers used to work with.

For another easter egg, type "quit" followed by "y" to exit out of the game back to the "system". You will find yourself at the promtp. If you type "dir" you will get a list of files on the system. Keep in mind, this is not really your system, but an extension of the game. You will see the following:

The list of files can be opened using the "cat" command word. Also, if you experiment, you will notice all of the commands work and add more depth to the game. Check out the mail command to list the inbox of Mason.

And yes, you can actually read the email. Enough from me as I am sure you will want to experiment around with it.Have fun!

Call of Duty: World at War

The Call of Duty franchise has been one of the most popular in the FPS genre and with good reason. Each new installment has been solid and with a few exceptions, a great experience to play. Call of Duty : World at War is no exception. Call of Duty: World at War is a first-person shooter video game developed by Treyarch and published by Activision for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360. It is generally considered to be the fifth mainstream game of the Call of Duty series and returns the setting to World War II, after the storyline of the previous title, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was based in the present day.

Medal of Honor

4.4 - Overall Rating
4.0 - Gameplay
4.6 - Graphics
4.9 - Audio
4.1 - Interface

So you have seen the advertisements, and the trailers.  This is my personal perspective on Electronic Arts newest release, Medal of Honor.  The game features a single-player and multi-player version. Each version uses a different game engine so there are some visual differences between the two.  Let me preface this review by saying that after the Modern Warfare 2 fiasco, I was really looking for a good replacement to call home for a while.

Something evil is lurking below the city of Waterdeep. The Lords of Waterdeep summon a group of heroes to investigate, but someone or something has been watching the proceedings. After the heroes enter the sewers, the ceiling collapses behind them. The only way out is the way down, into a dungeon filled with monsters, traps and puzzles.

And so begins the adventure! This game was based on the 2nd Edition rules of D&D and had a first-person perspective. What was nice about this particular game was the point and click interface.

Heroes of Might and Magic 5

4.7 - Overall Rating
4.9 - Gameplay
4.5 - Graphics
4.7 - Audio

There are six factions in the game: Haven, Inferno, Necropolis, Dungeon, Sylvan and Academy. Additionally, the game's expansion packs added the Fortress and Stronghold alignments.

An unexpected demon invasion interrupts the wedding of King Nicolai of the Griffin Empire and Lady Isabel, and soon the forces of the Griffin Empire are at war with the demons of Sheogh. With Nicolai at the front, Isabel is sent, along with her the abbess Beatrice, to the Summer Palace, where they are guarded by Godric, the King's uncle. Isabel persuades Godric to let her take part in the war rather than wait. Godric is to go to the Silver Cities to seek help from Archmage Cyrus, while Beatrice will go to Irollan to get help from Elven King Alaron. Eventually, Isabel raises an army, but when Beatrice returns to lead her to meet the Elven reinforcements, Beatrice reveals that she is Biara: a succubus and assistant to a demon lord, Agrael. (In fact, Biara had the original Beatrice killed and took her guise as soon as she learned that Nicolai had sent Isabel to the summer palace.) She obviously hasn't visited King Alaron at all, and the meeting was a trap by Agrael, who captures Isabel. Isabel escapes Agrael with Godric's help (Godric failed to enlist aid from Cyrus, but returns himself), but they are too late to prevent Agrael from killing Nicolai, who, with his dying breath, proclaims Isabel to be Queen in his stead.

This game comes from a legacy of very fun action/adventure games with compelling story lines.  In this version you play the protagonist, a nameless adventurer that started his day looking for his lost donkey and inadvertently ends up paired with Elika, a woman that was being chased by some unsavory types.  Of course, she is the main storyline of this installment and together they fight the very gods to get to the end of this exciting and harrowing adventure.

I was hesitant to review this game simply because to many players it is almost like a religion.  I also believe that to not review this game would be a crime considering its standing in the gaming world. With that being said, here is a jump off the high board.  I sure hope there is water in the pool!

World of Warcraft, known by most of the free world as WoW, is the top dog when it comes to MMORPG's.  With more than 11 million subscribers, the game continues to keep its fan base energized with new content and group action.  The game is produced by Blizard Entertainment and is based off the Warcraft world from the original real time strategy games.
